About
Sea Sense
Our Philosophy: Learn boating and have
fun at the same time!
SEA SENSE, the Women's Sailing and Powerboating School, is owned
and operated by professional women boaters, and has been in
operation since 1989. Most of our scheduled courses are for women
only, but in our specially arranged and custom courses we happily
teach women, men, families and groups. We’re proud of our
dedication and purpose of teaching sailing and powerboating, we’re
serious about our emphasis on teaching safe boating safely and
we’re pleased to pass on to you our love of being on the water.
Learning about boating Increases your confidence and then the fun
begins.
SEA SENSE offers a wide variety of courses to meet your needs,
whether you are a beginner or an experienced hand. We offer a
great selection of classes in some of the premier cruising areas
of the world. We teach in Florida, New England, Chesapeake Bay,
the Great Lakes, San Francisco Bay, the Pacific Northwest and
along the Intracoastal Waterways. International classes may
include the Bahamas, the Caribbean Islands, Greece, France, Italy
and Tahiti. Picture yourself at the helm in any of these beautiful
places!
It has always been part of our philosophy that knowledge is the
best investment you can make for your own peace of mind. That
emphasis becomes more apparent as many states and insurance
companies require boat operators to take boating courses. Do
yourself a favor and invest in your own education – for the safety
of yourself, your crew and your boat!

Captain Carol
Cuddyer Carol has
been in love with boating for as long as she can remember,
and for 20 years has spent more time on the water than on
land. Carol has a U.S. Coast Guard Masters license for
vessels up to 100 tons, and is a fully certified Registered
Nurse. She has taught on boats large and small, power and
sail, on waters across the world. Carol loves teaching and
is thoroughly convinced that the best way to see the world
is by boat! So much water, so little time! Captain Patti
Moore
Patti learned
boating as an adult and has been hooked on it for over 30
years, holding a Coast Guard 100 Ton Masters license. She
has lived aboard sail and powerboats and cruised
extensively. Sharing her knowledge with other women in the
teaching environment of SEA SENSE lets her have the best of
all worlds – doing something she loves on a boat on the
water! Her personal philosophy is, “Do what you love, love
what you do!” |

Penny Foster,
Crew Member After
an 8-year vacation (perks are great at Sea Sense!) Penny has
returned for an encore performance. She and her husband
Barry have moved from Connecticut and set anchor in Florida,
permanently. She looks forward to boating 12-months-a-year
instead of 6! She'll be happy to assist you in any way she
can. Just ask...
