A very Happy New Year to you all! We hope that 2010 will be full of all good things, with lots of quality time on the water.
Whether you cruise on a sailboat or a powerboat, the possibilities are endless, and we hope SEA SENSE will contribute to your enjoyment of boating by helping to make it safer and more fun than it’s
ever been for you.
As happens in all of our lives, SEA SENSE is continually evolving. More and more of you have called on us to help you take the next step with your boating dreams and plans. Our On Your Own Boat©
classes now range from one day of learning to dock to long distance teaching deliveries covering thousands of miles, either with boats new to you or to new cruising grounds. Our highly experienced
instructors have covered almost all of the Great Loop, as well as the waters on both coasts of the Americas, the Bahamas and Caribbean Islands and parts of Europe, and they’re ready to work with you
where ever you choose to roam. Whether you want to try the Intracoastal Waterway for the first time, or our canal systems with locks and dams, or offshore runs in the oceans of the world, SEA SENSE
can be there to help you make this experience your own.
Trawler cruising keeps on growing in popularity, and we’re here to get you started with confidence. Courses are available on boats we use in Florida, Chesapeake Bay, New England, the Pacific Northwest
and the tropical paradise of the Virgin Islands. And in addition to our women-only courses, we can schedule a class for a couple, or you and your family – or even just one person – to fit your
calendar and needs.
NEW in 2010 is a unique opportunity to experience the trawler lifestyle aboard a brand new, award- winning SELENE 47 in Chesapeake Bay! “HOLIDAY” is being made available through SEA SENSE for 4-day or
5-day (or longer if you wish!) trawler training courses from May through October for singles, couples and families, as well as for our 5-day, all-women classes. The boat is a top-of-the-line single
engine trawler with bow and stern thrusters, stabilizers, the latest, most advanced electronics and all the luxurious amenities on board that you could want. She has both a pilothouse and flying
bridge, large foredeck and covered aft deck, so you have the choice of being inside or outside while underway or kicked back at anchor or at the dock. You can learn to cruise with confidence, in
comfort, under the guidance of your very experienced Coast Guard licensed instructor.
ALSO NEW in 2010 is an all-women learning/cruising Ireland course on the Shannon River, on a modern canal barge, in September. We’ll meander on the water through exceptional countryside of rolling
green fields and ancient Celtic monasteries. Our evening stops will put us in picturesque villages with hospitable people and warm pubs for dinner and music. Probably the best feature of the river is
its intrinsic “Irishness”, embodying all that is best about Ireland. If you have your own group and want this type of boating adventure, whether it’s on a sailboat or a powerboat, either in Ireland or
other wonderful places like France or Italy, we will certainly accommodate you – let us know!
