From The Founders
What is SEA SENSE ... The Women's
Sailing and Powerboating School about? The school was founded by
Capt. Carol Cuddyer and Capt. Patti Moore in 1989 to provide a
place where women could learn boating in a women only format.
After eighteen years, we continue to teach hands-on, on-board
classes for women only, because these courses work.
Over time it became apparent that men
could use a bit of Sea Sense education as well, so we expanded our
programs to include men, couples who want to work together,
families and groups in custom courses.
Sea Sense also teaches On Your Own
Boat courses. We will come to where ever your boat is and teach
you what you want to know OR coach you during a new boat cruise /
delivery until you're ready to be in charge.
All locations for scheduled classes
have been hand-picked for their unique characteristics and their
fascinating and varied cruising grounds. They have also been
chosen for the particular educational opportunities they provide.
We make every effort to choose places that are easy to get to and
within range of a major airport. Sea Sense provides warm places to
sail in the winter and northern boating in the summer months,
along with enticing international adventures.
Sea Sense has taught thousands of
people both in the U.S. and internationally. "Sense" is our last
name and we are trying to share it with everyone. We look forward
to being on board with you in 2008. Give us a call or e-mail for
details and more information about our great classes and wonderful
teaching locations!

Captain Carol
Cuddyer Carol has
been in love with boating for as long as she can remember,
and for 20 years has spent more time on the water than on
land. Carol has a U.S. Coast Guard Masters license for
vessels up to 100 tons, and is a fully certified Registered
Nurse. She has taught on boats large and small, power and
sail, on waters across the world. Carol loves teaching and
is thoroughly convinced that the best way to see the world
is by boat! So much water, so little time! |

Captain Patti
Moore Patti learned
boating as an adult and has been hooked on it for over 30
years, holding a Coast Guard 100 Ton Masters license. She
has lived aboard sail and powerboats and cruised
extensively. Sharing her knowledge with other women in the
teaching environment of SEA SENSE lets her have the best of
all worlds – doing something she loves on a boat on the
water! Her personal philosophy is, “Do what you love, love
what you do!” |
